Half Way Motel

does motel 6 in the state of missouri have to pay you time and a half for 4th of july?

hi i work at motel six in missouri and i work on the 4th of july...i was wondering if i recive time and a half for that time....if i do is it against the law for them not to pay me time 1/2?

1. No company is required to pay you time and a half on a holiday. Internal policy is what warrants being payed time and a half. If Motel 6 has a policy stating you get time and a half then yes.
2. Depends on the handbook or policy that they have in place. If you are working a holiday it is usually time a 1/2. If you are not working that day and it is observed its just regular pay. Most companies state that in order for you to received holiday pay you have to work the day before and the day after. In your case if you are working the holiday it is usually time a 1/2.
3. Time and a half is required for hours worked over 40 in a week. There is no legal requirement for extra pay for a holiday, although some companies do pay extra - they don't have to though.
