Half Way Motel

Austin, Texas?

I'm making motel reservations at a Motel 6 in Austin. I want to make sure I don't choose one that is in a bad area. These are my choices. Which ones should I avoid/choose? Thanks for your help. I'm a bit scared since I don't know the area. SOUTH-AIRPORT 2707 Interregional Hwy CENTRAL-SOUTH-UNIVERSITY 5330 North Interregional Hwy MIDTOWN 6603 North I-35 NORTH 9420 I-35 North CENTRAL-NORTH 8010 I-35 North Thanks again!

  1. Austin isn't too bad.... but if you want to avoid any issues make a reservation in Round Rock (on I35 north of Austin) Round Rock is attached to Austin.
  2. I would choose the MIDTOWN 6603 North I-35 option. The motel is along a strip of a bunch of different motels (Crown, Doubletree, Drury Suites, etc) and there is absolutely nothing to worry about here. I drive past this hotel every day on my way to work, and it's a much better option than some of the others. There are multiple decent restaurants and shopping very nearby, and it's the closest to downtown of all the ones you listed. Hope this helps. Enjoy Austin, I love it here. UPDATE: I noticed when driving by today that this particular Motel 6 is one of their "Studio 6 Extended Stay" versions, meaning it's going to be nicer and have more accomodating furnishings than your normal Motel 6. I would absolutely choose this one!
  3. They should all be fine, for the most part, safety-wise. Although, they are all right off of the freeway, which is never really a great spot in any city (more noise than anything else). If you're just passing through town, I'd probably pick one of the northern ones, but if you want to be close to downtown, I'd go for the 2707 one or the 5330 one (it's near the university though, so keep that in mind if you're going when classes are starting). There's also a Super 8 at I-35 and 13th street, which is probably the closest motel to downtown Austin.
  4. I have lived in Austin for 10 yrs or so and i would choose North 9420- I-35 North!!!!! I think that is the safest one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have fun!!!!
  5. Austin is a very safe city - agree with some of the other responses, but you should be fine at any of them
  6. north or central north. austin is a fairly safe city, but those are the places i would stay. :-).
  7. most of these places are pretty safe.......just like any where else always watch your surroundings.....do not leave anything in the rental car......if you make to the downtown areas[6 th st,.red river district or the warehouse district(4th st,)] I always pay for parking near the clubs I plan to go to.......the farther you are from the main streets the more I think you put yourself at risk.
  8. none of those are good options. I would say you are better off staying somewhere closer to Mopac or up further north on 183... try one of these..they are close enough to the highway that it will only take a few minutes to zip there.... 9. I totally agree with Myview! If you want to be closer to downtown, try to get a better hotel..
