Half Way Motel

What are the problems of "working under the table"???

I have a Caucasian U.S. born friend who is working a skilled trade "under the table". His Boss often does not pay him. My friend and his girlfriend are homeless. When he does get some cash for the work he performs, it's not the full pay. Sometimes they are lucky enough to stay at a motel a few nights. My friend also owes Child Support and is afraid if working a regular job, half his pay-check will be "taken away" and he will be homeless anyway! WHAT SHOULD HE DO?

  1. try doing by urself
  2. He should try to work for some shelters to build up some money and find another job and try to get back on his feet.
  3. The problems you listed are exactly why getting "paid under the table" is a problem. You couldn't sue your employer because their isn't any legal documentation supporting your pay or your employment status when you "work under the table". Good Luck to ya!
  4. well those kids are his too he needs to support them get a real job and make his gf get a job also. i cant believe some one would rather live like that then take care of their kids...
  5. loser i would call this cheap scape so called friend this dude has kids he needs to step up to the damn plate first of all hell he can work 2 jobs and if thats not good enough then he needs to think about his own problems he has to many excuses!!!
  6. a problem is your boss might not pay you and cant do shi.t about it!! Also if you ever need unemployment or something you wont get it cuz you didnt pay into it. Whys your friend being such a deadbeat and not getting a real job just because hell have to pay for his child? Kick him in the ass and tell him his child needs to eat and have a shelter so stop being a lazy bit.c.h and get a job and help his baby mommy out. So in answer to your question, he should get a job, have half his check taken away because its his baby were talking about. Then tell his girldfriend to stop being a lazy freeloader as well and get a job.
  7. You've just listed at least one major problem with working "under the table". No legal recourse against an employer who is stealing from his employees. But then there are also the other legal issues such as tax evasion, evading child support, lack of workman's comp insurance in the event of an accident. If the guy has marketable skills, he needs to seek employment with a company that is on the up and up. Yeah, he'll get nailed for child support. Too bad. He should be paying it anyway.
  8. Hi! This is only my opinion, The Boss is taking advantage of him. LEAVE THERE! I have been homeless a time or two at the age of 13. I know what it is to not have a place to stay and depending on friends. Your welcome mat eventually wears out. I am 57 years old now. Been there, done that . Learned alot of hard lessons and they were due to my own stupidity. My best advice is tell his girlfriend that if she wants to be on the "run" and look over her shoulder most of the time . Fine. You made your own bed, lay in it. Otherwise there are a zillion jobs out there you are able to do. Agencies out there to help. Homeless shelters to get people back into the ability to live on one's own without depending on people's charity. Get to plowing Girl! Now, the guy . I understand your situation but the only way out is doing the right thing. Again, there are agencies out there that will help you to get going . Use the telephone book. Once you overcome your fear of responsibility, it gets a little rough at the beginning but its nothing you can't handle. Are you a wimp? Being raised in this country, I would think not but we have some. Live, Be Free! It is a wonderful life to be free of the things that hold us back. Do you understand where Im coming from? Get a life. Be a man. You will never have to go through these changes again as long as you are true to yourself and others. Get tough with yourself. sincerely, Eileen Hines
