Half Way Motel

i start a new job monday in the interview they stressed the importance of attendence?

when i got home and told the better half she says i guess that ruins the surprise i had for our one year anniversy. she bought tickets to a concert and reserved a motel room a month ago and was keeping it a surprise. should i ask for a day off after only working for two weeks.

  1. Explain the situation to your boss when you start. Hopefully they will be understanding and let you have the day off. If they won't, don't get upset and try to understand their point of view.
  2. Of Course. You work to live not live to work. Besides. Attendance means contribution. If you prove you are contributing there won't be any problem. Make sure you start work early and leave a little late and they will be happy to give you the time.

  4. Tell your supervisor about the situation that you mate just surprised you with that. Im sure that you and your supervisor can arrange something out.
  5. I would think most jobs would emphasize the importance of good attendance. I've seen way too many people not take that seriously enough - they'd just go to work when they felt like it and that was it. Many employers will understand if you ask for time of for something that was preplanned prior to your employment there. I would just explain the situation and hope for the best. I'm sure they will understand.
